Questions

What is a custom connector?

A connector you add to an app yourself by pasting its URL, instead of one the app ships with. Both OpenMerchant connectors are custom connectors. Nothing is installed on your computer.

Which apps and plans can add one?

Every Claude plan can add custom connectors, though some allow only one. In ChatGPT, your plan and workspace settings decide. Claude Code, Codex, VS Code, Cursor and the other apps on the guides add it from a command or a config file.

Can my agent buy something without asking me?

No. It builds a cart and opens a checkout, and completes it only after you confirm the total. Paying needs a payment credential from your app. Never type a card number into a chat.

What can an agent do with the OpenMerchant connector?

Whatever your secret key can do: vendor payments, purchasing, cards and selling. No vendor-payment tool approves, pays, cancels or retries a payment; a person does that in the dashboard. A test key runs everything in test mode and moves no money.
